"Capturing the Beauty of the Everyday in the fleeting sands of time."

Every picture tells a story. As a visual artist, I love the powerful storytelling aspect of photography. And the fact that it happens in a split of a second, by the click of a shutter, makes it magical!

I believe there is something truly magical about photography and the way it sets a moment apart in time, makes it stand still, and last forever. I strive to tell a story with every photograph I take, whether it is the little moments of everyday life - a glance, a smile, a hug - or a grand celebration like a wedding – it is a compelling part of our lives and our human story.

My Story:
I was born and raised in India and moved to the United States in 1991. While completing my Bachelors Degree in English Literature from New York, I dabbled in Photography and took some courses on the side. On the very first Black & White course I took, as I watched the Instructor develop the first print I had ever seen in a darkroom, she said, “It’s Magic!” It truly felt like that and it’s a feeling that has stayed with me every time I create something special. It’s why I love photography and feel passionate about it.

I went on to get a Masters degree in Photojournalism from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and worked at National Geographic Society, Washington, D.C. as a Picture Editor in Communications for four years.

When my first son was born in 2001, I decided to take some time off and become a full-time mom. I continued to take photographs and was enthralled to bits taking pictures of tiny hands and feet! My style of photography is very photojournalistic as I love to photograph life as it happens and with children there is no dearth of such moments!

I moved to California in 2007 and now live in the Bay Area with my husband and three kids. When not busy being ‘mom’ to my three boys, I devote my time to photography and am always learning.

Please check back often so see my latest work and drop me a note if you'd like. I would love to hear from you! And I would love to get a chance to tell the story of your kids, your family and your special moments…
